Letter to my selves

Short video slate of blog title: letter to my selves

The other day I was laughing with friends about how we never heed our own advice so here I am dishing out some words of wisdom to my selves. I’m having a word with my selves!

I find it hard to love myself so I’m having a word with my selves.

This exercise is a big step forward.

Notice how you used to say, ‘why is that happening to me?’ Do you want to know why? Because you didn’t see, hear, notice or register the first time, the second time, the third time nor the umpteenth time until the message came like a sledgehammer over your head! Don’t beat yourself up. We don’t pay attention until we are ready.

Not ‘to’, but ‘for’…

Well done! Now at least you say: ‘why is this happening for me?’ What is the gift in this? My dear, there is always a gift.

This is a gift: rejection is redirection.

Ego, dearest…

we are on the right path. You’re bruised and hurt but that’s ok? Feel your feels (thank you Lisa Bilyeu!) You are caring and protective and we love you for that. We know that you only have the best intentions even if your behaviour doesn’t always present itself that way.

Every path is the right path – even if you feel or eventually see that it’s the wrong path. We are exactly where we are meant to be right now (Peter Crone). You want us to be on that comfortable road where everything stays the same. Ego, darling, there’s no progress in the comfort zone. We like magic. Let’s embrace the magic zone and dance with our dreams. Dream big, creating the highest, grandest vision possible for our life because you know 100% we are becoming what and who we believe (Oprah).

We are enough.

We do enough,

We have enough

(Marisa Peer).

Recognise the distractions and let them go. On our journey, the distractions are not really meant for us. They are just that – distractions, hence the rejection. Keep feeling the feels and let them go. Work with intuition … let her do her thing. The best things happen in the magic zone.

Intuition, dearest…

You are on fire.  Sometimes you get confused with Imposter Syndrome, but we know you are no imposter. You doubt and question for good reason. Remember when you were about 3 or 4 and your big brother said: “you are so inquisitive!” Because you asked more questions that and master interrogator. Look how you found your place: journalism and coaching. Come out of your box because you are the business. You are our route to greatness. Keep showing up.

Subconscious self, dearest…

What a storyteller! Wow, stop hiding your light. It’s time for you to thrive, my dear. Remember our 2023 motto: rising and shining. Don’t think we are not noticing you more and more recently. Normally, you hang around in our dreams and you always provide the answers to our questions. Together, we definitely have all the answers. Don’t think we don’t notice you IWL (in waking life), too. The gobbledygook that comes out when we write. We’ve been jokingly calling you Lyndish when you conspire with autocorrect. You’re not bothered about how we spell words, you like the way they sound. Context is everything:  know/no, right/write, there/their, for/four and more? So long as we are understood.

Thank you for the time when we were five years old, and you conspired with ego over our dead cat being spotted in the road. ‘How could our tabby cat Felix suddenly have spots?’ It was such a puzzle that the reality of a crushed mangled cat never struck us, and we said goodbye with no pain, no longing and no anxiety. Genius!

Thank you for the ideas galore. Let’s work on them together.

Ego, Intuition, Subconscious self: I love you all.

I am genius. You are genius. We are genius!

Disclaimer:

To the expert overthinkers, these are the parts of me I am focusing on.

There is no right nor wrong for me, my selves and I.
