I Danced THRILLER for 100 Days — Here Are 12 Lessons That Surprised Me

The Beginning:

Choosing Joy, Presence, and Myself

1. Consistency Changes Everything

Consistency is a love letter to your future self.

Some days I danced for two minutes. Some days I danced full-out. What mattered wasn’t intensity — it was showing up, again and again. There’s something quietly powerful about keeping a promise to yourself. The more I showed up, the easier it became to show up in every other area of my life.

Keeping that daily commitment reminded me that transformation doesn’t come from pressure. It comes from presence.

Takeaway: Small daily actions compound. Consistency builds confidence, trust, and momentum.

2. Presence Over Perfection

There were days I looked anything but polished — and that’s where the magic happened.

Perfection is a distraction. Presence is the real goal. When I allowed myself to simply dance, just as I was, I experienced more freedom than I had in years. No critic. No comparison. Just music, movement, and me.

Letting go of “perfect” made space for joy to flood in.

Takeaway: Let yourself be imperfect. Presence creates progress, peace, and power.

3. Community Makes It Richer

I thought this would be a solo challenge. I was wrong — in the best way.

Friends cheered me on. People messaged me. Some even joined in. Community elevated the experience and reminded me how deeply we all crave connection, encouragement, and shared joy.

We are not meant to do life alone — even the fun parts.

Takeaway: Let people witness you. Joy expands when shared.

4. Progress Looks Messy

Growth is rarely linear. Some days I felt coordinated; other days I missed every beat.

But messy progress is still progress. And often, it’s where we learn the most. Showing up on my “messy” days taught me self-compassion. It taught me that nothing has to be perfect to be meaningful.

Takeaway: Give yourself permission to be a work in progress. You’re blooming, even on the messy days.

5. Joy Is the Best Motivator

I didn’t complete this challenge out of discipline — I completed it because it felt good.

Joy pulls us forward in a way willpower never can. When something lights you up, you don’t have to fight for motivation. You simply want to return to it.

This reminded me that pleasure is productive. Joy is fuel.

Takeaway: Choose what feels good. Joy is a powerful, sustainable driver of change.

6. Confidence Comes From Action

You can’t think your way into confidence — you have to move your way into it.

Each day I danced, I could feel my confidence rising. Not because I was getting better at the moves, but because I was proving to myself that I could follow through, trust myself, and have fun with it.

Action creates evidence. Evidence builds belief.

Takeaway: Confidence grows when you honour your commitments and take aligned action.

7. Structure Fuels Creativity

Having one clear structure — dancing daily — actually gave me more room to play.

Structure doesn’t limit creativity; it supports it. Knowing the “what” freed me from overthinking the “how.” I could be more spontaneous, more intuitive, more joyful because the container was set.

Takeaway: Simple structure creates freedom. It helps you flow instead of forcing anything.

8. Energy Is Contagious

Each time I shared a clip or update, someone told me it made them smile.

Our energy affects people more than we realise. When we choose joy, presence, and authenticity, it ripples outward. Dancing each day reminded me that when we show up with light, we quietly give others permission to do the same.

Takeaway: Your energy matters — and it influences more people than you think.

9. Growth Sneaks Up On You

I didn’t notice my growth day by day… until suddenly, I did.

One day I realised I could hit moves I struggled with earlier. My timing improved. My body felt different. My confidence felt different. Growth had been happening quietly in the background the whole time.

Takeaway: Trust your process. You are evolving even when you can’t see it yet.

10. It’s Never Too Late

Age is a number — it’s right on time. Never let age — or anything else — define you.

We often talk ourselves out of things because of age, timing, or self-judgement. But joy doesn’t expire. Neither does courage. These 100 days became proof that midlife is a powerful season for reinvention and evolution.

Takeaway: Your age is not a limitation — it’s a superpower.

11. Being Is More Effective Than Doing

This challenge wasn’t about productivity. It was about presence.

When I simply allowed myself to be — in the music, in my body, in the moment — the experience became transformative. I wasn’t ticking a box. I was honouring myself.

Being is where the real magic happens.

Takeaway: Slow down. Be here. Let presence guide you instead of pressure.

12. Showing Up for Myself

This was the deepest lesson of all.

Every single day, I chose myself. Not in a loud, dramatic way — but in the quiet, unwavering way that truly heals. Showing up for myself became a daily devotion. And it changed me.

I realised that the relationship we build with ourselves is the foundation of everything.

Takeaway: Choosing yourself — consistently and lovingly — is life-changing.
